The Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC) will be performing an update to the Northeast Georgia Regionally Important Resources (RIR) Resource Management Plan. The intent of the plan is to: (1) enhance focus on protection and management of important natural and cultural resources throughout the region; (2) to provide a framework for careful consideration of, and planning for, impacts of new development on these resources; and (3) to improve local, regional, and state level coordination in protecting and managing these resources.
A regional public hearing will be hosted on January 22, 2024 at the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission office, located at 305 Research Drive, Athens GA 30605. The hearing will take place at 4:00 p.m. (EST). The purpose of the hearing is to announce the beginning of the process for updating the plan and to provide the public an opportunity to nominate a resources in each of the twelve Northeast Georgia counties.
