The Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC) in coordination with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has initiated the process of creating a Regional Transit Development Plan (TDP). The TDP will help identify transit needs and opportunities and inform future transit system investments across the 12 counties making up the Northeast Georgia Region. A regional TDP will focus on local transportations issues and concerns, consider regional needs and travel patterns, identify opportunities for the NEGRC to pool resources and staff, and identify implementable transit projects. .
We are calling for community input beginning with the October 11, 2023, public meeting at the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission’s office, located at 305 Research Drive, Athens, GA, 30605. The public meeting will follow an open house format, allowing participants to drop in anytime between 4pm and 6pm to review project information and provide input at their own pace. Brief presentations will be given at 4:30pm and 5:30pm. The project team members will be collecting input on transit needs and opportunities in the region. Additionally, members of the project team will be available to answer questions or provide more information.
A community survey will launch with the public meeting on October 11 and be open through November 10, 2023. Community members can access the survey HERE. The brief survey focuses on identifying the region’s transit opportunities and concerns as well as opportunities for cross-county collaboration.
