The Northeast Georgia Regional Commission (NEGRC) will be performing an update to the Northeast Georgia Regionally Important Resources (RIR) Resource Management Plan. The intent of the plan is to: (1) enhance focus on protection and management of important natural and cultural resources throughout the region; (2) to provide a framework for careful consideration of, and planning for, impacts of new development on these resources; and (3) to improve local, regional, and state level coordination in protecting and managing these resources.
A regional public hearing was hosted on January 22, 2024 at the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission office, located at 305 Research Drive, Athens GA 30605. A nomination process is available at the following link until March 15, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.: NE Georgia Regionally Important Resources Plan Update (2024) (arcgis.com).
