Is your community looking for additional tools to address commercial and/or residential blight in your community? If so, make plans to attend our Blight Tax Lunch and Learn on December 4, 2019 from 11:45am – 1:00pm. The event will be held in Building N at Athens Technical College, 800 US 29 N, Athens. See the event flyer and agenda for further details.
Ted Baggett, Associate Director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, will provide attendees information on the legal framework for implementing a blight tax. Jessie Owensby, Downtown Manager for the City of Cornelia, will talk about their blight tax ordinance and how they have used it to create a community redevelopment incentive. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.
