USDA Farmers-To-Families Food Box Program
USDA Farmers-to-Families Food Boxes, containing fresh fruits and
vegetables, will be given away at Oglethorpe County Middle School on
Tuesday, June 9, 2020. The boxes are packed and delivered by Collins
Brothers Produce. We will begin at 11:00AM and hope to be finished by
3:00PM.
Although the schools, local food banks, and Oglethorpe County Lions Club
are sponsoring this, these boxes are available to ALL Oglethorpe County
residents who are experiencing food insecurities. Please tell your churches
and neighbors.
This is a “no contact” project delivered from “truck to trunk”. You will come
to the car lineup, pop your trunk, and receive your box or boxes depending on
the size of your family. Please make certain that the trunk is cleared to make
space for the boxes. Do not get out of your car. All volunteers will be wearing
masks and gloves to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus.
The box weighs approximately 20 pounds and contains potatoes, sweet
potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, lemons, oranges and apples.
Contents may vary.
