{"id":51917,"date":"2019-08-30T19:19:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T19:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/negrc.org\/planning-government-services\/?p=51917"},"modified":"2019-08-30T19:19:54","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T19:19:54","slug":"oconee-county-designated-planfirst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/negrc.org\/planning-government-services\/oconee-county-designated-planfirst\/","title":{"rendered":"Oconee County Designated PlanFirst"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oconee County has been designated a 2020 <strong>Plan<\/strong>First Community by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plan<\/strong>First is DCA\u2019s program to recognize and reward communities that clearly demonstrate an established pattern of successfully implementing their Local Comprehensive Plan. DCA recognized Oconee County&#8217;s hard work and successful comprehensive plan implementation, and acknowledged the community&#8217;s commitment to identifying opportunities and setting goals to move the county forward.<\/p>\n<p>Participation in the\u00a0<strong>Plan<\/strong>First program lasts for three calendar years. Designated communities are encouraged to reapply to renew their designation for an additional three-year period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plan<\/strong>First designation brings significant recognition and rewards, including eligibility* for the package of incentives listed below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Statewide recognition as being an exemplary,\u00a0<strong>Plan<\/strong>First, community;<\/li>\n<li>The ability to apply for CDBG annually during the designation period;<\/li>\n<li>Bonus points on DCA programs such as the Redevelopment Fund or Employment Incentive Program or the Downtown Revolving Loan Fund;<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on assistance from DCA staff to help implement community work program activities, and<\/li>\n<li>Other incentives that are under consideration and will be announced as they are approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information on <strong>Plan<\/strong>First, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dca.ga.gov\/local-government-assistance\/planning\/local-planning\/planfirst\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DCA&#8217;s website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>*<em>Governments designated as PlanFirst are required to maintain their Service Delivery Strategies in order to take advantage of the benefits from the State offered as PlanFirst incentives.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oconee County has been designated a 2020 PlanFirst Community by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA)!
