global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span>Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) requires an \u201cenvironmental review\u201d of proposed projects that involve federal funding or require a permit or license by a federal agency. It also requires that federal agencies take into account the effects of their undertakings on historic properties and provide the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) with a reasonable opportunity to comment. In addition, federal agencies are required to consult on the Section 106 process with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (THPO). These reviews are required when a proposed project uses federal funds and\/or requires some federal permits that may affect historic resources. The NEGRC receives copies of all the reviews conducted in the Northeast Georgia region. These correspondence are available from the NEGRC, upon request.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>PGS staff can assist with the preparation of Historic Preservation reviews, upon request.
