Our role as the Area Agency on Aging is to:<\/span> assess\u00a0needs, advocate for resources,\u00a0engage community support, coordinate program funding, and monitor and evaluate the work of service providers for the development of a comprehensive service delivery system that meets the short and long-term needs of persons sixty years of age or older, their caregivers or the disabled in the Northeast Georgia Area.\u00a0\u00a0We accomplish this by working with federal, state and local officials, elderly and disabled constituents, service providers, caregivers, and the private sector to coordinate existing services and to develop new services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has an advisory council, comprised primarily of older persons, to review and comment on all programs affecting the elderly and disabled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The AAA sub-contracts with local county governments, private organizations, senior centers, attorneys at law, and non-profit organizations to provide a variety of services in the northeast Georgia region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Area Agency on Aging\u00a0<\/span>vision<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is to foster the development and implementation of a comprehensive and coordinated service delivery system, which encourages and promotes individual choice, self-respect, and dignity for older persons residing in Northeast Georgia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Northeast Georgia AAA is responsible for advocacy for seniors, planning and administration of programs, and coordination and monitoring services in the area. We offer consultation and referral to an array of services that benefit aging and disabled Georgians and their caregivers including information on, and access to, home and community-based services. We also provide a variety of services and support to allow individuals the opportunity to maintain their activity, independence, and dignity in their homes and in the community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n
